Lancet is offering a 24-month Phlebotomy Technician Learnership for motivated individuals interested in a career within medical pathology. The programme combines theory and practical training, culminating in the HPCSA board examination and registration as a qualified Phlebotomy Technician.

Responsibilities

•  Collect venous, capillary blood, and non-blood specimens from patients and donors.
•  Attend structured training, complete assignments, and sit for the HPCSA board exam.
•  Ensure compliance with safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and relevant legislation.
•  Provide professional and empathetic patient care.
•  Maintain confidentiality and represent the organisation with professionalism.

Requirements

•  National Senior Certificate (NSC) with:
•  English (HL or FAL) – Level 4 (50–59%)
•  Life Sciences – Level 4 (50–59%)
•  Mathematics – Level 3 (40–49%) or Mathematical Literacy – Level 4 (50–59%)
•  0–1 year relevant experience.
