Description

The City of Johannesburg’s Public Safety Department invites applications for the Metropolitan Police Officer Trainee Programme. Successful candidates will undergo intensive training and development to qualify as fully-fledged Metropolitan Police Officers responsible for enforcing by-laws, maintaining law and order, and ensuring road safety within the City of Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

•  Participate in theoretical and physical training modules
•  Learn and apply traffic and municipal by-law enforcement
•  Assist in law enforcement, crime prevention, and community policing operations
•  Adhere to JMPD policies, discipline, and performance standards
•  Carry a firearm and wear the required uniform at all times
•  Demonstrate fitness, discipline, and commitment during the training period

Requirements

•  South African citizen
•  Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 certificate
•  Valid driver’s license (minimum Code B – no learner's licenses)
•  Aged between 18 and 35 years
•  Reside within Johannesburg Metropolitan area (proof of residence required)
•  No criminal record or civil judgments related to fraud/corruption
•  Willing to undergo vetting, fingerprinting, and biometric checks
•  Physically and mentally fit (medical certificate required)
•  Able to pass a fitness assessment
•  Proficient in English
•  Willing to wear a uniform and carry a firearm
