The University of the Western Cape is seeking four Library Assistants to support its Library Services team in enhancing learning, teaching, and research through innovative and user-focused services. The role involves assisting with circulation, reference services, cataloguing, and open science support within a dynamic academic environment.

Responsibilities

•  Assist with circulation, short loans, and interlibrary loan (ILL) services
•  Perform basic cataloguing and database searches
•  Support research and open science initiatives
•  Provide in-person and virtual reference services
•  Contribute to collection development and library marketing projects

Requirements

•  Bachelor of Library & Information Science or equivalent
•  At least 1 year of experience in an academic or research library

Skills & Competencies

•  Experience in user services
•  Familiarity with library management systems and databases
•  Strong MS Office 365 skills
•  Ability to work independently and in a team
•  Exposure to open science activities
