About the Opportunity

The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development is inviting applications for the position of Receptionist / Telecom Operator.

This opportunity falls under the District Office Directorate and is based in the Northern Cape, covering the ZF Mgcawu and Pixley Ka Seme Districts. The successful candidate will support telephonic services, switchboard operations, reception duties, client enquiries and related administrative functions.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate telephonic and related administration.
• Keep and maintain incoming and outgoing documents register of the component.
• Attend to incoming telephone calls.
• Screen and forward calls.
• Receive and record telephone messages.
• Develop and maintain a database of contact numbers for officials.
• Administer the attendance register.
• Administer telephone accounts.
• Facilitate switchboard operation services.
• Receive requests from users by email.
• Arrange new extensions, movement of extensions, swapping, blocking and unblocking of extensions.
• Programme the system for new extensions, movement, swapping, blocking and unblocking.
• Test telephone lines after programming.
• Inform users once requests have been completed.
• Attend to clients with queries and provide information.
• Answer general enquiries.
• Facilitate boardroom bookings.
• Manage and update the calendar for boardroom bookings.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate

Job-Related Knowledge

• Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel
