The opportunity is aimed at registered students working towards a teaching qualification, or candidates planning to study towards a teaching qualification such as a B.Ed. or PGCE.

The learnership will require candidates to balance academic studies with practical classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in school learning activities.
• Adhere to workplace policies, procedures, and professional standards.
• Assist teachers where required, including in the classroom.
• Participate in extra-mural activities.
• Gain practical experience in classroom administration and management.
• Support lesson planning and programme design.
• Gain practical teaching experience across all learning areas.
• Assist with coaching and sports administration.
• Support assessment and report writing.
• Work with learners with special educational needs.
• Assist in maintaining learner profiles and portfolios.
• Complete all theoretical learning sessions and study periods conscientiously.
• Present proof of registration and exam admission letters when required.
• Report to designated mentors at agreed times.
• Participate in quarterly progress reviews.
• Complete required assessment tasks.
• Complete timesheets to track workplace experience.
• Maintain professional dress and conduct while representing the school.

Requirements

• Matric certificate with a Bachelor’s Pass qualifying the candidate to enrol for a B.Ed. degree through UNISA; or
• Appropriate university qualification enabling registration for a PGCE through UNISA.
