The CIPC (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission) is responsible for the registration of companies, co-operatives, and intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents, designs, and copyright, as well as their ongoing maintenance. It also ensures the disclosure of information on its business registers and promotes education and awareness of company and intellectual property law. Additionally, the CIPC works to encourage compliance with relevant legislation and enforces these laws efficiently and effectively. It monitors adherence to financial reporting standards, identifies any violations, and makes recommendations to the Financial Reporting Standards Council (FRSC). The commission also licenses business rescue practitioners and conducts research, reporting, and advising the Minister on national policy matters related to company and intellectual property law.
