Job Description

The City of Johannesburg is inviting applications for a Human Settlements Internship opportunity within the Human Settlements Department.

This internship is based in the Executive Director’s Office and is available for a period not exceeding 18 months.

The internship programme is designed to provide qualifying students with work-based training and practical workplace exposure. The successful candidate will perform developmental-level professional administrative work, research and analysis in support of the Business Management Directorate within the Department of Human Settlements.

The intern will participate in the Directorate’s daily operations, including general office administration, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, regulatory compliance, human resources support and administrative tasks linked to strategic planning.

Primary Function

The successful candidate will perform developmental-level professional administrative work, research and analysis in support of the Business Management Directorate at the Department of Human Settlements.

The role includes participation in day-to-day operations such as general office administration, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, regulatory compliance, human resources and administrative tasks related to long, medium and short-range strategic planning.

The intern will also contribute to the development of the Business Plan, Quarterly Report and strategic planning concept notes.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
• Degree in one of the following fields at NQF Level 7:
  • Business Management
  • Business Administration
  • Public Management
  • Public Administration
• No experience required.
• Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
• Must be a qualifying student in the Johannesburg community.
• Must not have participated in an internship programme before, unless the previous internship was not relevant to the candidate’s course of study.
