Flume Digital Marketing is hiring a Data Intern to support its Data Analytics team in Johannesburg.

The Data Intern will assist with data collection, reporting, and basic analysis while gaining practical experience in digital marketing analytics.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to marketing data, reporting tools, analytical techniques, and a fast-paced agency environment.

The intern will work closely with experienced analysts to learn how to gather, clean, and interpret data, contribute to reports and dashboards, and support the delivery of data-driven insights for internal teams and clients.

One of the key objectives of the role is to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to progress into a Junior Data Analyst or Junior Data Scientist position.

Responsibilities

Data Collection & Support

• Assist with collecting, cleaning, and organising marketing data from various sources.
• Support the team in maintaining accurate datasets.
• Identify data discrepancies.
• Learn basic SQL, Excel, Python, or other data tools used by the team.
• Assist with preparing data for reporting and analysis.
• Participate in team meetings to understand project requirements and objectives.

Reporting & Analysis

• Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports.
• Help create charts, graphs, and dashboards using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Support senior analysts with basic data analysis and reporting tasks.
• Learn how to identify trends and insights from marketing data.
• Assist with documenting reporting processes and methodologies.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with the Data team on internal and client projects.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and team discussions.
• Take notes during meetings where required.
• Assist with follow-up actions.
• Support ad hoc administrative and analytical tasks.

Learning & Development

• Build knowledge of digital marketing channels and performance metrics.
• Develop proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in marketing analytics.
• Seek regular feedback.
• Actively participate in learning opportunities.

Requirements

• Studying towards or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in one of the following fields:
