Description
Support the Food Service Unit by maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, assisting with preparation and serving of patient meals (including special diets), and ensuring storerooms, fridges/freezers, utensils and equipment are clean, sanitized and correctly packed.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize pots, pans, crockery/cutlery, floors, drains, fridges/freezers and equipment.
- Remove waste, clean/sanitize dustbins, and keep work areas tidy.
- Unpack, pack and rotate provisions in fridges, freezers and storage areas.
- Assist with meal preparation, plating/dishing according to guidelines, and basic function catering.
- Operate food-service machinery and follow all hygiene and safety procedures.
- Work rotating early/late shifts, weekends and public holidays; relieve in different areas as required.
Requirements
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- At least 1 year’s experience in a food-service environment (large-scale cooking an advantage).
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks and work shifts/public holidays.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and a team player.
- Knowledge of hygiene, cleaning and safety practices.
