Sibanye-Stillwater is inviting applications for the Learnership 18.2 Learner Miner opportunity at its Platinum Marikana operations.

This temporary learnership programme is designed to develop learners through structured training, workplace exposure, safety learning, and practical mining-related development activities.

The successful candidates will be expected to complete all modules of the development programme within the required timeframe, follow company policies and procedures, comply with legal and safety requirements, and participate in workplace learning activities linked to the learner miner programme.

There are 9 learner miner positions available.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of the programme objectives and related tasks.
• Complete all modules of the development programme within the specified timeframe.
• Escalate queries and concerns related to the programme when required.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all legal and safety requirements.
• Conduct all work according to required standards, specifications, and training requirements.
• Attend Safety, Health and Environment meetings when required.
• Wear and use prescribed safety equipment correctly.
• Recognise hazardous situations that may affect work activities.
• Participate in on-the-job risk assessments.
• Compile developmental progress reports for discussion with relevant stakeholders.
• Report inconsistencies and obstacles.
• Communicate ideas and recommendations.
• Participate fully in the learnership selection and training process.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Must be medically fit to work in the specific mining business area.
• Must have a clear security screening record.
• Valid driver’s licence, if applicable.
• Relevant experience in a mining or similar environment will be advantageous.
• Must be willing to complete the full learner miner development programme.
• Must be willing to follow all safety, legal, and operational requirements.
• Must be available for pre-screening and psychometric evaluation if required.
• Must be available to attend a panel interview if shortlisted.
