Description

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs is recruiting an Administrative Clerk in Glen within Disaster Management and Soil Conservation and Land Care.

The position provides general clerical, supply chain, personnel and financial administration support services.

Responsibilities

• Record, organise, store, capture and retrieve correspondence and data.
• Update registers and statistics.
• Handle routine enquiries.
• Make photocopies.
• Receive or send facsimiles.
• Distribute documents and packages to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain the component’s filing system.
• Type letters and other correspondence when required.
• Maintain the incoming and outgoing document register.
• Provide supply chain clerical support services.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the procurement of goods and services.
• Obtain quotations.
• Complete procurement forms for the purchase of standard office items.
• Control office stationery stock.
• Maintain the component’s asset register.
• Provide personnel administration clerical support services.
• Maintain the component’s leave register.
• Maintain personnel records.
• Arrange travel and accommodation.
• Maintain the component’s attendance register.
• Provide financial administration support services.
• Capture and update expenditure.
• Check officials’ subsistence and travel claims for correctness.
• Submit subsistence and travel claims to the manager for approval.
• Handle telephone accounts and petty cash.

Requirements

• A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
• No previous experience is required.
