Job Description
Anglo American is inviting applications for the Cybersecurity Learnership under its International Early Careers Programme in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This 12-month learnership is designed to develop early-career cybersecurity talent through structured learning, hands-on experience, professional development, and exposure to real-world cybersecurity operations.
Learners will work alongside Anglo American cybersecurity professionals while gaining experience in cyber threat intelligence, digital forensics, investigations, security operations, cyber risk management, and human cyber risk awareness.
The programme also prepares learners for the CompTIA Security+ certification, helping them build both practical and theoretical cybersecurity knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Support the Cybersecurity Operations team during the learnership.
- Participate in Anglo American’s International Cybersecurity Early Careers Programme.
- Learn how cybersecurity teams monitor systems and identify potential security threats.
- Analyse security alerts under supervision.
- Understand how cybersecurity incidents are detected and managed.
- Participate in investigations of suspicious activity with guidance from experienced analysts.
- Gain exposure to security incident response coordination.
- Learn how to gather and analyse cyber threat intelligence from internal and external sources.
- Contribute to basic threat reporting and intelligence summaries.
- Learn how threat intelligence supports proactive cyber defence.
- Practise evidence collection and analysis activities under supervision.
- Learn how digital investigations are conducted in a legally compliant and forensically sound manner.
- Gain exposure to forensic tools and cybersecurity investigation methods.
- Support user awareness initiatives that promote safer online behaviour.
- Assist with preparing cybersecurity awareness materials and training sessions.
- Help analyse behavioural data to identify areas where additional awareness training may be needed.
- Participate in structured training sessions.
- Complete study activities and coursework aligned to the CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Prepare for and complete certification examinations during the learnership.
- Track learning progress and maintain study commitments throughout the programme.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have completed Grade 12.
- Must have Mathematics and Science.
- Must have a strong interest in cybersecurity and information security.
- Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to learn new technologies and concepts quickly.
- Must have good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Must be willing to participate in a 12-month learnership programme.
- Must be willing to undergo background screening if successful.
