Description

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs is recruiting an IT Technician in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District, Phuthaditjhaba.

The position is responsible for installing and maintaining ICT equipment and software, providing technical support, administering networks and supporting departmental systems.

Responsibilities

• Implement and install ICT equipment.
• Set up, install and test new equipment.
• Maintain ICT equipment and software.
• Check systems and equipment for viruses.
• Implement security measures and firewalls.
• Identify hardware problems.
• Install software updates and patches.
• Install and configure connections for transversal systems, including PERSAL, BAS and LOGIS.
• Provide desktop and technical support services.
• Assist users in understanding general IT programs and functionality.
• Administer and maintain local area and wide area networks.
• Maintain servers.
• Execute backups.
• Support departmental information.
• Provide email access.
• Provide internet access to support effective communication.

Requirements

• An NQF Level 6 tertiary qualification in Information and Communication Technology; or
• Another relevant ICT qualification.
