Smollan is inviting applications for a Merchandiser Learnership. This 12-month opportunity is designed for candidates who want to gain practical retail experience while building workplace skills in merchandising, stock handling, customer service, and store presentation.

The programme gives learners hands-on exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of a merchandiser in a fast-paced retail environment. Successful candidates will help keep shelves stocked, support attractive product displays, maintain pricing accuracy, assist customers, and contribute to a clean and organised store environment.

This learnership is ideal for candidates who are energetic, reliable, and eager to grow in the retail space.

Responsibilities

• Count, document, and manage stock levels
• Unpack and organise products correctly
• Help ensure shelves are stocked with the right products
• Create and maintain attractive product displays
• Support store layout execution and promotional visibility
• Ensure products are displayed neatly and priced correctly
• Remove damaged, old, or incorrect stock where required
• Work with sales, marketing, and other teams to support store goals
• Assist customers with product-related questions
• Help keep the store area and storeroom clean, tidy, and uncluttered
• Support excellent in-store presentation and customer experience

Requirements

• Matric
• Must be within 15 km of the job location
• Clear criminal record
• Own smartphone
• South African candidates are preferred
• Candidates between 18 and 35 are preferred
• Learnership-level profile or interest in workplace training
• Vodacom SIM card will be required if the application is successful
• Must be able to complete the required assessment during the application process
