Smollan is inviting applications for a Merchandiser Learnership at SPAR The Reeds in The Reeds, Pretoria, Gauteng.

This 12-month learnership is designed to help candidates gain practical retail experience while developing skills in merchandising, stock management, visual displays, product maintenance, customer service, and store operations.

The successful candidate will support store merchandising activities by ensuring shelves are well-stocked, products are displayed correctly, pricing is accurate, and customers receive helpful product support.

Responsibilities

• Count, document, and manage stock levels.
• Unpack and organise products.
• Ensure shelves are stocked with the correct products.
• Create attractive product displays.
• Assist with store layouts, signs, and promotional displays.
• Ensure products are properly displayed, priced, and maintained.
• Remove old, damaged, or unsuitable products from displays.
• Work with marketing, sales, and other teams to support business goals.
• Provide product advice to customers.
• Handle customer queries, requests, and complaints professionally.
• Keep the store area and storeroom clean, tidy, and uncluttered.
• Maintain accurate stock records and product displays.
• Support excellent customer service and product knowledge in-store.

Requirements

• Matric certificate.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Must live within 15km of the job location.
• Clear criminal record.
• Must have own smartphone.
• Must have an ID, SARS letter, and bank confirmation letter.
• A Vodacom SIM card is required if the application is successful.
• Must be willing to work shifts.
