Job Description

McDonald’s is inviting applications for a Learnership Programme in South Africa.

This learnership gives learners an opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while completing a recognised and accredited qualification through CATHSSETA: National Certificate: Fast Food Services NQF Level 3.

The programme combines practical workplace learning with classroom-based training in food preparation, customer service, restaurant operations, teamwork, and supervision within a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Learners will develop essential workplace and customer service skills that can support future career growth in the hospitality and food service industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and beverages according to McDonald’s standard operating procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the restaurant, including the lobby, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
• Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take customer orders and process payments accurately at the front counter or drive-thru.
• Assemble and present customer orders efficiently.
• Attend classroom training sessions and complete the required portfolio of evidence.
• Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
• Must be between 18 and 26 years old.
• Must be willing to work shifts, including day and night shifts.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• Clear criminal record.
• Must reside in Rosbank.
• Must be able to travel to and from the restaurant, including for shift work.
• Must be willing to stand for extended periods while on duty.

Documents Required When Shortlisted

Shortlisted candidates must have the following documents ready:

• Certified copy of South African ID, not older than 3 months.
• Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate or latest results, not older than 3 months.
• Updated CV.
• Proof of residence.
• Any additional supporting documents, if applicable.
