Tsebo is inviting applications for a Learnership - Food and Beverage opportunity based in Sandton, Gauteng.
This 12-month learnership is offered through Tsebo Catering and is designed to help learners build essential skills and knowledge in the Food and Beverage industry.
The Food and Beverage Services industry plays an important role in restaurants, hotels, catering businesses and hospitality establishments. This learnership is suitable for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, customer service and delivering quality dining experiences.
Tsebo Catering Solutions has applied for discretionary funding to host learners in the Food and Beverage industry at NQF Level 4. The qualification can support professional growth and future career opportunities within the hospitality industry.
Course Content
Learners will be trained to:
- Describe the layout, services and facilities of the organisation.
- Describe the sectors of the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industries.
- Maintain health, hygiene and a professional appearance.
- Communicate verbally in the workplace.
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff members.
- Display cultural awareness when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Perform basic calculations.
- Prepare and clear areas for table service.

- Prepare and serve spirits and liqueurs.
- Recommend, present and serve wines.
- Supervise the running of a function.
- Maintain a safe working environment.

- Monitor and maintain health, safety and security.
- Provide First Aid.
- Conduct on-the-job coaching.
- Develop themselves within the job role.
- Introduce new staff to the workplace.
- Plan staff training and development in their area of responsibility.
- Contribute to identifying short-term supply needs.
- Maintain a preventative maintenance programme.
- Maintain the cleaning programme for their area of responsibility.
- Maintain the receipt, storage and issuing of goods.
- Operate a payment point and process payments.
- Handle and record refunds.
- Source information about self-employment opportunities.
- Process incoming and outgoing telephone calls.
- Plan, organise and monitor work in their area of responsibility.
- Identify work opportunities.

Requirements
- Certified Matric Certificate.
- Must be able to read and write for the purpose of submitting a Portfolio of Evidence.
- Must be able to commit to a 12-month learnership.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have a valid RSA ID.
- Passion for hospitality and customer service.
- Willingness to learn and complete all learnership requirements.
