East Coast Radio / Kagiso Media is offering a Multimedia News Intern opportunity in KwaZulu-Natal.

The intern will assist in the news department, support newsroom operations, help journalists with story compilation across multiple platforms, and gain practical exposure to field and news desk reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in various areas of the news department.
• Learn to write and read news stories.
• Assist in the general operations of a newsroom.
• Assist journalists in the compilation of stories across various platforms, including:
  • On-air
  • Online
  • Social media
• Report from the field.
• Work on the news desk.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Journalism or Media and Communications.
• Code 08 Driver’s License.
• Exceptional writing skills.
• Ability to operate studio and field recording and production equipment.
• Minimal editing and multi-track mixing experience.
• Broad general knowledge and general computer literacy, including:
  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS PowerPoint
  • MS Outlook
• Current affairs and social media awareness.
• Highly organised and deadline driven.
• Good timekeeping skills.
• Team player with the ability to work independently.
