The Foschini Group is recruiting a YES Legal Compliance Intern in the Western Cape.

The intern will support the business in maintaining compliance with key regulatory frameworks. The role includes legal compliance monitoring, regulatory research, reporting and assisting Legal Compliance Specialists with compliance matters in South Africa and the rest of Africa.

Responsibilities

• Help facilitate compliance with the National Credit Act.
• Help facilitate compliance with financial-intelligence legislation.
• Help facilitate compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.
• Help facilitate compliance with financial-services legislation.
• Assist with managing legal compliance requirements across the rest of Africa.
• Draft summaries of regulatory changes.
• Explain the possible impact of regulatory changes on the business.
• Conduct physical and automated legal compliance monitoring.
• Prepare compliance reports relating to credit legislation.
• Prepare compliance reports relating to financial-services legislation.
• Prepare compliance reports relating to financial-intelligence legislation.
• Prepare compliance reports relating to privacy legislation.
• Work under the guidance of Legal Compliance Specialists.
• Assist in clarification meetings with business teams regarding monitoring findings.
• Select samples for compliance monitoring.
• Review and interrogate automated monitoring results as the first line of monitoring.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research.
• Scan relevant news for regulatory developments.
• Assist Legal Compliance Specialists with ongoing regulatory monitoring.

Requirements

• A relevant LLB or law degree.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to plan and organise work.

Previous compliance experience will be advantageous.
