Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is recruiting a Casual Cashier for its Ballito Junction store in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.

The successful candidate will provide customer service at the point of sale, capture transactions accurately and process payments according to Dis-Chem policies and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer-service policies and procedures.
• Establish professional relationships with customers.
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Work according to the required hourly customer-turnover rate.
• Remain informed about current sales and promotions.
• Help ensure that customers and colleagues are not exposed to unnecessary risks.
• Apply Dis-Chem’s five-star communication principles.
• Manage cash flow at the till.
• Ensure line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a supervisor.
• Exchange merchandise and process authorised customer returns.
• Capture customer purchases accurately.
• Receive and process cash payments.
• Process bank-card payments.
• Process vouchers, coupons and other accepted payment methods.
• Process loyalty cards and participating rewards programmes.
• Place cash in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
• Protect the confidentiality of till codes and passwords.
• Change passwords when required.
• Ensure all outgoing stock, products and prescriptions are scanned and paid for.
• Keep money secure inside the till.
• Handle daily takings confidentially.
• Report suspicious behaviour to management.
• Respond to customer queries about store merchandise.
• Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or Matric.
• At least six months of cashier or till-operations experience.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Sound numerical skills.
• Strong written and verbal command of English.
• Basic customer-service skills.
• Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
• Reliable transport or residence close to the store.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear credit and criminal records.

A third additional language will be advantageous.
