Smollan is inviting applications for the Merchandiser Learnership - Checkers Queenswood opportunity based in Queenswood, Gauteng.

This is a 12-month full-time learnership designed for candidates who want to start and grow a career in retail. The programme offers practical exposure in merchandising, stock control, customer service, and store presentation within a fast-paced retail environment.

The successful candidate will help ensure shelves are stocked correctly, displays are visually appealing, products are properly priced and maintained, and customers enjoy a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Count, document, and manage stock levels.
• Unpack and organize products.
• Create attractive product displays.
• Help plan store layouts.
• Design signs and advertisements to attract customer attention.
• Ensure products are properly displayed, priced, and maintained.
• Remove old or damaged products.
• Work with marketing, sales, and other teams to achieve business objectives.
• Provide product advice to customers.
• Handle customer complaints.
• Respond to customer queries and requests.
• Keep the store area and storeroom clean, tidy, and uncluttered.

Requirements

• Matric.
• English.
• Must live within 15km of the job location.
• Clear criminal record.
• Must have a smartphone.
• Must have a Matric certificate, ID, SARS letter, and bank confirmation letter.
• A Vodacom SIM card is required if the application is successful.

Preferences

• South African candidates.
• Experience in a learnership environment is advantageous.
• Candidates between 18 and 35 years old.
