Job Description

Smollan is inviting applications for a Merchandiser Learnership based in Queensburgh, KwaZulu-Natal.

This learnership is designed to help candidates launch their retail careers by gaining practical experience in merchandising, stock management, customer service and store presentation.

As a Merchandiser Learner, the successful candidate will help ensure that shelves are properly stocked, products are correctly displayed, and customers enjoy a clean and attractive shopping experience.

This role is suitable for candidates who are passionate about retail, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

The successful learner will be responsible for:

• Ensuring shelves are stocked with the correct products.
• Creating attractive product displays.
• Supporting visual merchandising activities.
• Pricing products correctly to support sales.
• Counting, documenting and managing stock levels.
• Unpacking and organising products.
• Creating and maintaining store displays.
• Planning store layouts where required.
• Designing or supporting signs and promotional displays.
• Ensuring products are properly displayed, priced and maintained.
• Removing old or damaged products from displays.
• Working with marketing, sales and other teams to support business objectives.
• Providing product advice to customers.
• Handling customer complaints where required.
• Responding to customer queries and requests.
• Keeping the store area and storeroom clean, tidy and uncluttered.

Key Deliverables

The successful learner will be expected to support:

• Accurate stock records.
• Accurate product displays.
• Attractive and well-maintained store displays.
• Effective teamwork with cross-functional teams.
• Good customer service and product knowledge.
• Clean and organised store areas.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12.
• English.
• Must live within 15km of the job location.
• Clear criminal record.
• Must have own smartphone.
• Must have a Matric Certificate.
• Must have an ID.
• Must have a SARS letter.
• Must have a bank confirmation letter.
• Must be willing to work shifts.

Additional Requirement

If the application is successful, the candidate must have a Vodacom SIM card for the role.

Preferences

The following will be an advantage:

• South African candidates.
• Learnership experience.
• Candidates between the ages of 18 and 35.
