Sanlam Group is hiring an Intern: Financial Data Analyst in Bellville, Western Cape.

Sanlam Group Technology is responsible for providing digitally enabled technology services as a group centre of excellence. The team drives business and transformation, provides group-wide digital and data architecture, operates technology platforms and shared services, supports Cyber and Information Security resilience, and acts as a technology governance and risk orchestrator across Sanlam.

Under supervision, the intern will be responsible for using data science to deliver value to clients and the business.

This includes statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, simulation, machine learning, and optimisation to discover trends, opportunities, and threats.

Findings are shared regularly with business users in a collaborative way.

Responsibilities

• Extract, clean, and transform financial data from source systems.
• Prepare and maintain financial datasets and reporting structures.
• Produce scheduled financial reports.
• Produce ad-hoc financial reports.
• Develop and maintain dashboards.
• Analyse financial data to identify trends.
• Analyse financial data to identify variances.
• Analyse financial data to identify anomalies.
• Support month-end processes.
• Support budgeting processes.
• Support forecasting processes.
• Develop dashboards using Power BI, Qlik, and Excel.
• Engage with Finance stakeholders on reporting requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in:
  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Data Analytics
  • Related field
• 0 to 2 years relevant experience.
• Internships are acceptable.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
