Description

The Examination Assistant role involves handling and processing examination scripts at district and head office levels. The position requires careful management of examination materials, ensuring accuracy, security, and adherence to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

•  Receive, check, control, and scan scripts daily.
•  Pack scripts for marking and ensure the correct number of scripts and marksheets per batch, subject, paper, and examination session.
•  Address and resolve any discrepancies in scripts or marksheets.
•  Ensure each bag of scripts includes two copies of the MP Flow control list of contents and is tagged with the correct marking venue’s colour-coded label.
•  Create marking centre files for all scripts to be dispatched.
•  Assist with dispatching scripts to marking venues.
•  Archive scripts after marking for easy retrieval when needed.
•  Control and distribute scripts to marking teams during the marking process.
•  Verify that all questions are marked, marks are correctly added, and totals are accurately transferred to the front cover of the script and marksheet.
•  Work with marking teams to correct discrepancies and ensure accurate amendments.
•  Reconcile and arrange scripts per subject and paper numerically for indexed archival.

Requirements

•  Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate Vocational (NQF Level 4).
•  Only registered tertiary students, unemployed individuals with at least one tertiary qualification, or unemployed graduates may apply.
•  Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level.
•  Second-year or higher tertiary students will have an advantage.
•  Previous experience as an Examination Assistant or Quality Assurer (District Office / Marking Centre / Office-based) is beneficial.
•  Strong numerical skills and ability to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines.
•  Must not be writing National Senior Certificate / Senior Certificate / AET Examinations in 2025.
•  Persons who have taken the VSP or are currently employed elsewhere may not apply.
