Description

This 12-month YES4Youth work experience opportunity is ideal for young individuals seeking hands-on exposure in cash processing and banking operations. The Cash Processor will be responsible for receiving, verifying, sorting, counting, reconciling, and safeguarding cash in line with company policies, banking SLAs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Details

Responsibilities

Receive and acknowledge deposits on the system.
Inspect cash containers/bags for tampering or damage and report anomalies.
Process deposits within agreed banking SLAs.
Prepare workstations for accurate note counting.
Sort and process notes within cut-off times.
Verify rejected, counterfeit, dye-stained, or mutilated notes.
Balance deposits and report discrepancies.
Complete daily reconciliation and production documentation.
Process bulk coin deposits in line with company policies.
Verify denominations and balances per deposit.
Clear machine jams and report equipment faults.
Validate system-linked deposits.
Escalate system downtime or delayed batches.
Process payroll and float transactions within SLA timeframes.
Obtain necessary bank authorisations before dispatch.
Adhere strictly to company policies, ISO 9001:2015 standards, and SOPs.
Maintain equipment and report defects.
Support quality, compliance, and ESG initiatives.
Promote organisational values and support change management initiatives.

Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics Literacy.
6 months previous cashier or teller experience (advantageous).
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Clear criminal record (required in cash-handling roles).
