ADvTECH Junior Colleges is inviting applications for a Classroom Assistant position at Junior Colleges Meyersdal in Alberton, Gauteng.

The successful candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to support the smooth running of the classroom. This role involves assisting with lesson activities, supporting learners, organising classroom materials, supervising children, and helping maintain a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Provide one-on-one support to learners when needed.
• Help maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
• Organise and maintain classroom materials and learning resources.
• Assist with small group classroom activities.
• Supervise learners during class time, recess, and other school activities.
• Communicate professionally with learners, parents, teachers, and other staff members.
• Support classroom routines and daily operations.
• Assist with behaviour management in line with school expectations.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Perform other duties assigned by the lead teacher or school management.

Requirements

• Matric certificate.
• Previous experience working with children or in a classroom environment will be preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Knowledge of child development and behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must act professionally at all times.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must be able to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds where required.
• Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
