Seriti is inviting applications for the Engineering Learnership 18.2 External opportunity at Middelburg Mine Services in Mpumalanga.

The purpose of this learnership is to develop learners and help them successfully qualify as artisans in various engineering trades.

This opportunity is aimed at external candidates from Middelburg Mine Services host communities who are interested in building a career in the mining and engineering sector.

Available Trades

Applicants may apply for one of the following trades:

• Auto Electrician
• Boilermaker
• Diesel Mechanic
• Fitter
• Rigger

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Engineering Learnership programme.
• Complete theoretical and practical training requirements.
• Develop trade-related technical knowledge and workplace skills.
• Work towards qualifying as an artisan in the selected trade.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and instructions.
• Attend assessments and training activities as required.
• Work shifts, standby, and call-outs when required.
• Apply problem-solving skills in an engineering environment.
• Identify faults and support maintenance activities where required.
• Comply with mine rules, safety standards, and programme requirements.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics, not Mathematical Literacy.
• Grade 12 Science.
• Minimum E symbol for Mathematics and Science.
• Two relevant N2 trade-related subjects, or minimum N2 with 4 relevant trade-related subjects.
• Subjects with F symbols will not be accepted.
• Valid K53 driver’s licence.
• Must be able and prepared to undergo psychometric assessments.
• Must be able and willing to work shifts, standby, and call-outs when required.
• Must be able to cope with pressure.
• Must be innovative and self-motivated.
• Must be able to identify faults without supervision.
• Must be in possession of, or able to obtain, a valid Certificate of Fitness.
• No criminal record.
