Description

FEM invites applications for a 12-month IT Internship Programme based within the Information Technology Department at its Johannesburg head office.

The programme will provide practical experience in real-world IT environments, including end-user support, cloud infrastructure, network administration, cybersecurity compliance, system troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Interns will work with experienced systems engineers and IT leaders to develop technical knowledge, problem-solving capabilities, and professional workplace skills.

Responsibilities

• Support daily Information Technology operations.
• Provide foundational end-user and Service Desk support.
• Assist with system troubleshooting.
• Help prepare and maintain system documentation.
• Support basic IT infrastructure activities.
• Assist with Identity and Access Management processes.
• Gain practical exposure to systems administration.
• Gain exposure to cloud-infrastructure operations.
• Assist with system updates.
• Support IT asset audits.
• Help prepare and update Standard Operating Procedure documentation.
• Contribute to basic automation-scripting initiatives.
• Participate in or lead approved small-scale operational projects.
• Work with systems engineers and IT leaders to develop technical skills.

Requirements

• Must currently be studying towards a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Basic knowledge of operating systems, computer hardware, and security practices.
• Basic familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting Windows 10 or Windows 11.
• Understanding of computer hardware components and peripherals.
• Basic understanding of local-network configuration, including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and DNS.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Exposure to macOS or Linux would be advantageous.
