Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is inviting applications for the Frontshop Assistant (Casual) position at its Medipark store in Kempton Park, Gauteng.
This is a part-time retail opportunity suited to an entry-level candidate who can support frontshop merchandising and store operations in line with The Local Choice Corporate Stores policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will help maintain merchandising standards, restock and rotate stock, support stock control, keep the store neat and organized, and provide friendly customer service at all times.
Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise when needed to ensure maximum sales.
- Ensure delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom are stored and packed in the correct space immediately.
- Maintain shelf stock and ensure products have not reached their sell-by date.
- Apply the FIFO principle when rotating stock.
- Ensure full product ranges are available on shelves at all times.
- Facilitate regular stock rotation and follow stock control procedures.
- Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
- Assist with cycle counts and general stocktaking.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area for checking.
- Identify and report damaged and expired stock immediately.
- Uphold merchandising policy and procedure standards.
- Follow store layout and merchandising layouts.
- Ensure frontshop shelves and products are neatly presented and visible at all times.
- Ensure labels and pricing are correct at all times.
- Report all price discrepancies to management.
- Stay informed about new products and maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
- Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays according to procedures.
- Maintain the daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays.
- Be responsible for designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor.
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
- Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.
- Assist with back shopping when needed.
- Handle all merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to customers.
- Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries.
- Resolve customer stock queries within a reasonable time.
- Wear the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
- Assist with training new and current team members.
- Report bad or suspicious behaviour from staff or customers to management.
- Ensure housekeeping is in line with company standards and keep the workstation clean and tidy.
- Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety rules.
- Follow uniform and personal appearance standards.
Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- 0 to 6 months retail work experience.
