Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is looking for a Merchandiser to join its store in The Glen, Johannesburg South.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained. The role also includes providing excellent customer service and supporting stock management across the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise as needed to support maximum sales.
- Ensure delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed correctly.
- Check that stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date.
- Ensure the full range of products is available on shelves at all times.
- Rotate stock regularly using the FIFO method.
- Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
- Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking.
- Follow Dis-Chem operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
- Ensure boxes are flattened after unpacking and taken to the correct area.
- Keep shelves and products neat, visible, correctly labelled, and properly priced.
- Report price discrepancies to management.
- Keep updated on current and new products.
- Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.
- Maintain the daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays.
- Assist with loading and off-loading stock.
- Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.
- Assist with back shopping.
- Assist in training new staff.
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to customers.
- Follow up on out-of-stock customer queries using the customer service out-of-stock list.
- Resolve customer stock queries.
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses.
- Follow Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety rules.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Up to 6 months’ retail experience.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office.
- Willing and able to work retail hours.
Advantageous
- At least 1 year of retail experience.
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.
- Product and category knowledge.
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking.
