Job Description

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for the Laundry Worker Level 2 position at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital. This role is suited to candidates who can support laundry operations in a hospital environment by handling linen, maintaining records, and assisting with the daily movement and processing of laundry items.

The successful candidate will help ensure that hospital linen is sorted, counted, cleaned, ironed, packed, and delivered correctly to the relevant departments. This is a practical support role for someone who can work carefully, communicate well, and contribute to the efficient running of the laundry department.

Responsibilities

• Sort, count, and record dirty linen
• Iron and fold laundry items
• Count, record, and seal linen bags
• Collect and deliver linen bags to and from all departments, including wards, Theatre, MOPD, and Casualty
• Load and offload linen bags
• Operate laundry processes such as washing, drying, ironing, and pressing
• Assist with mending clothes when required

Requirements

• Grade 10 / AET Level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification
• Must be able to read and write
• Basic numeric and literacy skills
• Ability to communicate well with stakeholders
• 1 year of laundry experience in a hospital environment will be an added advantage
• Understanding of Batho Pele Principles in relation to the laundry department
