The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for Cleaner positions at Pholosong Regional Hospital.

The successful candidates will be responsible for cleaning interior and exterior hospital areas, including bathrooms, showers, offices, wards, passages, waiting areas, floors, walls, windows, stairs, and other assigned spaces.

This role supports the hospital’s hygiene, safety, infection prevention, and general support services. Candidates must be able to perform routine cleaning tasks, work under pressure, assist with related duties when required, and be prepared to work weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean exterior and interior hospital areas.
• Clean bathrooms, showers, offices, wards, passages, and waiting areas.
• Dust, wash, scrub, and polish floors, walls, windows, stairs, fire escapes, and side walls.
• Clean medical equipment and fridges where required.
• Clean spillages safely and promptly.
• Empty bins and remove general waste.
• Remove medical waste according to health care waste management policy.
• Follow Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices.
• Follow Infection Prevention and Control principles and practices.
• Rotate within the scope of work when required.
• Assist with laundry duties when required.
• Serve meals when requested.
• Clean utensils where required.
• Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Grade 10 to Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• No experience required.
• Must have problem-solving skills.
• Must have good interpersonal relations.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Must be able to perform routine tasks.
• Must be prepared to work weekends and public holidays.
• Previous EPWP experience will be an added advantage.
• Must be willing to rotate within the scope of work.
• Must be willing to perform physical cleaning duties.
