Job Description

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for Courtesy Marshall positions at Pholosong Regional Hospital.

The successful candidates will support patient flow and customer care within the hospital by directing patients and clients to the correct service points, monitoring waiting times, assisting with queues, and helping identify clients who may require emergency care.

This role is suitable for candidates with good communication skills, customer relations skills, teamwork ability, and proficiency in English and other African languages. No experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor waiting times in all service areas.
• Compile monthly waiting time statistics.
• Ensure that patients are in the correct queues for the relevant services.
• Identify clients who may need emergency care.
• Liaise with health professionals when emergency care may be required.
• Direct patients and clients to the correct service points.
• Display good customer care.
• Treat patients according to Batho Pele principles.
• Treat patients according to patients’ rights.
• Apply Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices.
• Apply Infection Prevention and Control principles and practices.
• Work as part of a team to support quality patient service.
• Perform duties in a professional and respectful manner.

Requirements

• Grade 10 to Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• No experience required.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Good customer relations skills.
• Proficiency in English.
• Proficiency in other African languages.
• Previous EPWP experience will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Batho Pele principles will be useful.
• Willingness to work in a hospital environment.
