Job Description

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is inviting applications for Food Service Aid: Cleaning Services positions at the Pretoria Regional Office.

There are 2 posts available. The successful candidates will provide catering and cleaning support services, including setting up crockery and equipment for meetings, preparing refreshments, cleaning kitchen appliances, washing dishes and utensils, and maintaining dishwashing supplies.

This opportunity is suitable for applicants with a minimum ABET Level 4, Grade 9, or equivalent qualification. No experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Render catering support services.
• Set up crockery, cutlery, and equipment for meetings.
• Prepare refreshments and beverages, including water, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, and cold drinks.
• Clean microwaves, fridges, and other kitchen appliances.
• Clean kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment.
• Collect and wash glasses, plates, cups, cutlery, and other kitchen utensils after meetings.
• Wash glasses and teacups used by officials.
• Organise and maintain dishwashing items and supplies.
• Maintain and control stock levels of dishwashing supplies.
• Keep dishwashing tools safe, clean, and in efficient working condition.
• Report any equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced.
• Follow hygiene and safety requirements in the kitchen and service areas.
• Perform related cleaning and catering support duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum ABET Level 4, Grade 9, or equivalent qualification.
• No experience required.
• Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of handling hazardous materials such as insecticide and cleaning materials.
• Knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
• Ability to perform catering and cleaning support duties.
• Willingness to work in a support services environment.
