Description

Doppio Collection is looking for a Kitchen Hand to join its team in Sandton. The successful candidate will help keep the kitchen clean and organised, assist with basic food preparation, maintain kitchen equipment, and support the team during meal service.

This position requires someone who can work flexibly and complete various tasks in a busy kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Wash, rinse, and sanitise dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Keep the kitchen clean and organised, including countertops, floors, and storage areas.
• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation.
• Ensure the kitchen is stocked with essential items such as cleaning supplies, utensils, and ingredients.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclable materials correctly and keep the waste area clean.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, stovetops, and mixers.
• Fetch ingredients, utensils, and other items required by kitchen employees.
• Follow health and safety standards, including safe food handling, wearing appropriate protective equipment, and maintaining a hygienic workspace.
• Monitor food and ingredient inventory and rotate stock to maintain freshness.
• Assist during meal service with plating, garnishing, and sending out dishes in an organised manner.
• Communicate openly with other kitchen employees to coordinate tasks.
• Complete different kitchen tasks as required in a dynamic working environment.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to provide efficient service.

Requirements

• Experience working as a Kitchen Hand.
• Experience in casual or fine-dining restaurants.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Must live within 20 km of the workplace.

Employment Details

• Permanent, full-time position.
• Eight working hours per day.
• Shift-based work schedule.

Preferences

The following would be advantageous but are not compulsory:

• Matric or Grade 12.
• South African candidate.
• Candidates between 23 and 45 years old.
• Clear criminal record.
