Santam is inviting applications for its Learnership Programme 2026.

This nationwide learnership is aimed at young South Africans who are ready to enter the working world, gain practical experience, and earn while they learn.

The Santam Learnership Programme is an entry-level transformation initiative designed to build a sustainable pipeline of talented people in the financial services sector.

Learners will receive accredited training, workplace exposure, and the opportunity to develop skills within South Africa’s leading short-term insurance company.

A qualification, together with the FSCA regulatory exams RE5, may allow learners to apply for professional membership of the Insurance Institute of South Africa in the designation category of IISA Member.

Responsibilities

• Participate in accredited learnership training.
• Gain practical workplace experience in the financial services environment.
• Complete all required learning activities and assessments.
• Follow workplace instructions and company policies.
• Develop professional behaviour and workplace readiness.
• Build knowledge of the short-term insurance industry.
• Work with teams and mentors during the learnership period.
• Commit to the full 12-month programme.

Requirements

Applicants must have a Grade 12 Certificate with:

• Minimum pass mark of 50% for English.
• Minimum pass mark of 50% for a second language.
• Minimum pass mark of 40% for Mathematics, or minimum pass mark of 60% for Mathematics Literacy.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• Must be unemployed.
• Must be between the ages of 18 and 28.
• Must not be studying with any other institution during the learnership.
• Must not have been on a Short-Term Insurance Learnership through INSETA.
• Must not have more than 1 year of work experience.
• Persons with disabilities must provide a medical note confirming the nature of the disability.

Who Cannot Apply

The following applicants will not be considered:

• People with a post-matric qualification, such as a Higher Certificate, National Diploma, Degree, or Honours.
• People currently studying towards any post-matric qualification.
• People with more than 1 year of work experience.
