Givaudan is inviting applications for a Production Learner opportunity based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Givaudan is a global company involved in food innovations, fragrances, beauty and wellbeing solutions. The Production Learner will gain practical exposure within a manufacturing and production environment while supporting production processes under supervision.
The successful candidate will follow established procedures and guidelines while completing production orders assigned by the Shift Leader and Senior Production Operator.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting production operations under supervision.
Production Operations
- Perform basic operation of designated machines and production equipment under supervision.
- Work with equipment such as blenders, sieves, spray dryer systems, batching systems, multipurpose reactors, spinning cone columns, bulk tanks, Roxane robots, packaging systems, ovens, mills, distillation columns and encapsulation systems where applicable.
- Assist with blending, mixing, dispensing, packaging, heating, cooking, adding enzymes, compounding and filtering.
- Collect intermediates or raw materials.
- Move and load raw materials into production machines.
- Understand bill of materials and formula specifications.
- Ensure correct quantities of materials are added in the correct sequence.
- Manufacture products safely and on time according to process instructions.
- Follow quality standards during production activities.
- Read control instruments accurately.
- Prepare neat and accurate operational records.
- Troubleshoot problems under the guidance of experienced operators.
- Assist with in-process quality testing.
- Identify deviations and communicate them according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prepare product packaging for the next production step or final shipment.
- Maintain a neat, orderly and clean shop floor.
- Complete sanitation and housekeeping duties as required.
- Work according to relevant requirements, including GMP, AIB, OSHA, HACCP, FDA, USDA and internal safety guidelines.
- Proactively identify process improvement opportunities.
- Participate in Lean activities in designated areas.
- Attend classes and successfully complete the learnership programme.
