Job Description
Signature Cosmetics is inviting applications for the Shop Assistant position at Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal, Pretoria. This role is suited to candidates who are passionate about customer service, retail operations, and supporting store performance in a fast-paced sales environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming and personalised customer experience while supporting stock management, housekeeping, merchandising, promotions, point-of-sale procedures, and daily store operations. Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming, inspirational, and personalised experience for customers
- Support the achievement of store targets and operational standards
- Understand sales targets and contribute to increasing average spend, basket size, and link selling
- Attend and participate in morning team meetings
- Prepare for and participate in daily floor walks
- Assist with stock takes and conduct cycle counts when required
- Report stock concerns, low stock levels, and out-of-stock items to the Store Supervisor
- Prevent product damages by following stock handling and storage standards
- Practice accurate stock rotation and apply the FIFO principle
- Maintain stockroom and sales floor cleanliness and hygiene
- Replenish departments and maintain housekeeping standards
- Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards
- Follow store standards and operational procedures
- Be familiar with Model Store files and operational requirements
- Follow all policies and procedures, including point of sale, cash handling, banking, and staff uniform policies
- Offer Loyalty Card membership to customers and explain its benefits
- Explain current promotions, discounts, and special offers to customers
- Focus on increasing basket size through greeting customers, offering baskets, introducing new items, and link selling
- Perform makeovers professionally and record customer details and products used
- Use testers effectively to introduce customers to the product range
- Respond to customer requests, comments, and complaints, and escalate when necessary
- Implement monthly promotions with the correct signage and display material
- Action all pricing, mark-ups, mark-downs, and promotions in the area of responsibility
- Support marketing initiatives such as sidewalk sales, centre court space, and pop-up stores
- Report stationery, refreshments, cleaning materials, and other consumable needs timeously
- Adhere to the staff schedule and ensure coverage using the buddy-buddy system
- Attend scheduled training and apply new knowledge in daily tasks
- Raise product knowledge gaps with the Store Supervisor
- Assist with the induction and training of new employees
- Report breaches of procedure or policy through the correct channels
Requirements
- A Matric, Grade 12, or equivalent certificate
- Minimum of one year of working experience in retail
- Experience working with beauty, fragrances, and skincare products is an advantage
- Experience working with Point of Sale systems is an advantage
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including emails and Excel, is an advantage
