Job Description

The Department of Employment and Labour is inviting applications for UI Claims Officer positions in the Western Cape.

There are 19 posts available at the following Labour Centres:

• Bellville Labour Centre
• George Labour Centre

The successful candidates will be responsible for processing Unemployment Insurance claims, registering employers, verifying employee declarations, executing approved claim payments, attending to claim-related enquiries, and performing administrative duties in the section.

Responsibilities

• Process Unemployment Insurance claims according to the relevant systems and standard operating procedures.
• Register employers according to the relevant prescripts.
• Verify the declaration of employees according to the relevant prescripts.
• Execute payment of approved claims within the required timeframes.
• Attend to enquiries relating to processed claims.
• Attend to enquiries relating to any other matter linked to the processing of claims.
• Perform administrative duties within the section.
• Maintain accurate records and claim-related documentation.
• Follow departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
• 0 to 6 months’ experience.
• Knowledge of the Unemployment Insurance Act.
• Knowledge of the Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act.
• Knowledge of Public Service Regulations.
• Knowledge of the Public Service Act.
• Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles.
• Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of customer care.
