AdcorpBLU is recruiting for a Freight Handler Learnership based in Westlake, Cape Town.

This learnership leads to a Freight Handler NQF Level 3 qualification and is designed to prepare learners for employment opportunities within the broader freight transport industry.

The programme exposes learners to goods handling environments such as warehouses, factories, ports, rail and airports.

This opportunity is suitable for unemployed candidates with Matric who are available to start immediately and can commit to a 12-month learnership programme.

About the Learnership

The Freight Handler Learnership prepares learners for work in the freight transport and logistics industry.

Learners will gain knowledge and practical exposure that can be useful in different goods handling environments, including:

• Warehouses
• Factories
• Ports
• Rail environments
• Airports
• General freight and logistics environments

Responsibilities

The successful learners may be responsible for:

• Inspecting cargo for damage.
• Inspecting cargo for discrepancies.
• Loading goods as required.
• Unloading goods as required.
• Operating equipment such as forklifts.
• Operating equipment such as pallet jacks.
• Organising goods in warehouses.
• Storing goods in warehouses.
• Preparing shipping documentation.
• Tracking shipments.
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Ensuring compliance with handling regulations.
• Coordinating with logistics teams.
• Coordinating with drivers.
• Coordinating with warehouse staff.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric.
• Must be unemployed.
• Must be available to start immediately.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy objects.
• Must be able and willing to work shifts when required.
• Must be able to commit to a 12-month learnership programme.
• Must reside in one of the required areas.
