Description
The Financial Clerk will provide financial administration support within the Finance Directorate at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Key responsibilities include preparing and processing patient invoices, managing account reconciliations, and following up on outstanding debts with relevant stakeholders. The role also involves handling financial records in compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations, capturing data accurately using systems such as BAS and SAP-HIS, and maintaining high levels of customer service and communication.
Responsibilities
- Process and issue patient invoices accurately
- Apply ICD10 codes and handle billing for IOD, RAF, SAPS, Defence, and Correctional Services
- Follow up on outstanding accounts and debts
- Submit patient accounts to relevant stakeholders
- Assist with debt management including write-offs of untraceable accounts
- Perform account reconciliations and financial record-keeping
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with financial procedures
- Provide administrative support within the Finance Directorate
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma in Finance or related field
- Knowledge of Accounting principles and Basic Accounting System (BAS)
- Understanding of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations
- Computer literacy with strong Excel/Spreadsheet skills
