Job Description
The Department of Agriculture is inviting applications for the Auditor: Financial Audit position in Pretoria, Gauteng.
This opportunity falls under the Sub-Division: Financial Audit and is suited to a candidate with relevant audit, financial accounting, or financial management experience.
The successful candidate will plan, execute, report on, and close financial audit projects while supporting risk-based audit processes and maintaining proper project documentation.
Responsibilities
- Plan financial audit projects allocated to the employee.
- Organise opening meetings with clients.
- Attend opening meetings and compile minutes.
- Prepare pre-audit surveys by gathering background information such as acts, policies, procedures, legislation, and previous audit reports.
- Prepare a detailed system description documenting the entire process to be audited.
- Attend and participate in risk workshops with audit clients to identify and rate audit risks per sub-process.
- Deliberate on controls related to each identified risk and produce risk reports.
- Conduct analytical reviews to identify patterns and trends to guide the sampling plan.
- Prepare audit programmes to test the adequacy and effectiveness of identified controls.
- Update teammate project files with all planning documents.
- Execute the defined scope of financial audit projects allocated to the employee.
- Select samples from the population.
- Prepare working papers.
- Execute audit procedures according to the approved audit programme.
- Prepare supporting documents such as document control sheets, incomplete or missing document records, and factual correctness sheets where necessary.
- Collect audit evidence for each finding raised.
- Prepare finding sheets with relevant recommendations.
- Discuss findings with relevant officials.
- Update teammate project files with all fieldwork documents, including finding sheets.
- Report on the results of executed financial audit projects.
- Participate in the compilation of stream reports.
- Participate in deliberations of the final report with the audit manager and the audit client.
- Organise closing meetings with clients.
- Prepare and discuss Audit Project Performance Evaluation.
- Complete the finding register.
- Update teammate project files to align findings and working papers to final stream and Audit Committee reports.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- National Diploma in Accounting or Auditing.
- Minimum of 1 year credible and applicable experience in financial management, financial accounting, or auditing.
Knowledge
- Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Risk-based financial audit methodologies and procedures.
