Job Description

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for a Finance Clerk position at Jubilee District Hospital.

This opportunity falls under the Finance Directorate.

The successful candidate will support hospital finance operations by collecting revenue from patients and stakeholders, issuing receipts, capturing receipts on SAP, updating cash handover registers, supporting debt management, drawing financial reports and performing cashier duties.

This role is suitable for candidates with a National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification who have strong computer, communication, planning, organising and interpersonal skills.

Added Advantage

The following will be an added advantage:

• Equivalent qualification in Finance Management.
• 18 months relevant experience in Financial Management in the Public Service.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Collecting revenue from patients and other stakeholders.
• Collecting revenue according to the Uniform Patient Fees Schedule.
• Collecting revenue according to the relevant government gazette.
• Submitting daily cash collections to the main cashier.
• Issuing receipts from the PAAB system.
• Issuing TPH208 receipts during downtime.
• Capturing receipts on SAP.
• Updating the cash-up handover register at the end of each shift.
• Analysing patient debts.
• Following up on patient debts.
• Supporting debt management.
• Safekeeping and managing financial documents.
• Supporting batch control.
• Monitoring and controlling adherence to sound accounting practices.
• Ensuring correct allocation of expenditure.
• Ensuring correct allocation of revenue.
• Drawing financial reports from BAS.
• Drawing other BAS reports to support unit activities.
• Checking and correcting patient classification.
• Performing cashier duties within the hospital.
• Performing other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
