About the Opportunity

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is inviting applications for the position of Accounting Clerk: Batch Controller.

This opportunity is based at the Gqeberha Regional Office. The successful candidate will report to the State Accountant and will be responsible for batch control, financial document management, accounting support and related financial administration duties.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and manage financial documents through batch control processes.
• Monitor and control adherence to sound accounting practices.
• Monitor and control adherence to NPDW practices, prescribed policies and regulations in all transactions.
• Monitor and control documents relating to different transversal systems.
• Ensure correct allocation of expenditure and revenue.
• Draw financial and other BAS reports in support of the activities of the unit.
• Assist with budget formulation when required.
• Assist with compiling a cash flow budget when required.
• Assist with monthly reporting when required.
• Perform duties related to cashier functions.

Minimum Requirements

• National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage

Knowledge

• Knowledge of a financial environment will be an advantage
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and policies
