Job Description

The Department of Social Development is inviting applications for 2 Supply Chain Clerk positions at Head Office.

This is an entry-level government opportunity under the Supply Chain Management Directorate.

The role is suitable for candidates with Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent. No experience is required.

The successful candidates will provide clerical support in asset management, demand and acquisition, supplier database administration, procurement processing and logistical support services.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 certificate or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• Basic knowledge of supply chain duties and practices.
• Ability to capture data.
• Ability to operate a computer.
• Ability to collect statistics.

Duties

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Rendering asset management clerical support.
• Compiling and maintaining records.
• Checking and issuing furniture, equipment and accessories to components and individuals.
• Identifying redundant, non-serviceable and obsolete equipment for disposal.
• Verifying the asset register.
• Rendering demand and acquisition clerical support.
• Updating and maintaining a supplier database.
• Registering suppliers on LOGIS or a similar system.
• Requesting and receiving quotations.
• Capturing specifications on the electronic purchasing system.
• Placing orders.
• Rendering logistical support services.
• Placing orders for goods.
• Receiving and verifying goods from suppliers.
• Capturing goods in registers or databases.
• Receiving requests for goods from end users.
• Issuing goods to end users.
• Maintaining goods registers.
• Updating and maintaining the register of suppliers.
