Lancet Laboratories is inviting applications for a Relief Admin Clerk / Receptionist position based in Rosebank, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will administer the receiving, capturing and distribution of laboratory samples to ensure correct information is obtained, recorded and used to support the speedy processing of samples.
This role involves reception, administration, customer service, sample handling support, reporting, stock monitoring, cash handling and communication with patients, doctors, couriers and internal departments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Administering the sorting and distribution of samples according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring correct and prioritised channeling of specimens to various laboratories or sites.
- Processing sample registration and logging queries according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring dispatching of specimens for processing in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Incorporating specimen information, registration reports, handling queries and report delivery.
- Performing hospital rounds to distribute reports.
- Collecting submitted samples for processing according to relevant procedures.
- Handling and referring administrative queries and customer complaints.
- Ensuring timely resolution of queries and responses to complaints.
- Transporting specimens by courier where required.
- Ensuring specimens are received by the designated laboratory.
- Processing and ensuring returned results are handled timeously and in line with procedures.
- Investigating bottlenecks in pre-analytical laboratory processes.
- Ensuring timely resolution of laboratory process challenges.
- Ensuring basic housekeeping in own working area.
- Cleaning workstations and preparation equipment according to standard operating procedures.
- Monitoring stock levels.
- Ordering additional stock to ensure required materials are available.
- Ensuring delivery of stock to doctors' rooms where required.
- Representing the organisation by applying customer care principles in the medical pathology field.
- Interacting professionally with medical professionals and staff.
- Managing reception areas.
- Providing relevant information and directing clients to relevant departments while offering excellent customer service.
- Receiving cash from patients.
- Ensuring banking of monies is done in accordance with relevant standard operating procedures.
- Reporting incidents, logs, customer complaints and problem solutions.
- Reading documents and actioning tasks on the laboratory information management system in line with company policy.
- Preparing and scanning patient forms onto the laboratory scanning system.
- Resolving scanning incomplete cases according to standard operating procedures.
