Sasol is inviting applications for Learner Fire Fighter opportunities based in Secunda and Sasolburg.

This learnership gives successful candidates the opportunity to participate in and complete a structured fire fighting learnership programme.

The programme includes on-the-job learning supported by structured or institutional learning. Learners will be required to complete assessments and participate in workplace readiness activities linked to the fire fighting field.

This opportunity is open to candidates who reside in Sasol local communities, specifically Secunda and Sasolburg.

Purpose of the Learnership

The purpose of the learnership is to allow learners to participate in and complete a learning programme in the designated field of fire fighting.

The learnership combines workplace learning with structured learning to help candidates develop the knowledge, skills and readiness needed for the role.

Key Responsibilities

Successful learners will be required to:

• Participate in the learnership programme.
• Complete the required assessment process.
• Participate in workplace readiness activities.
• Participate in workplace readiness exercises.
• Follow Sasol policies and procedures.
• Learn and apply fire fighting and emergency response principles.
• Execute and coordinate work activities as required.
• Develop performance and workplace readiness skills.
• Demonstrate accountability throughout the programme.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a completed National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Matric with a pass in the following subjects:

• Technical Mathematics, Mathematics or Maths Literacy.
• English or Business English.
• Technical Science or Physical Science.

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

• Code B or higher driver’s licence.
• Ability to pass a stress and fear assessment.
• Ability to pass assessments involving heights, confined spaces, fire exposure and cat ladders.
• Ability to pass a Fire Fighter fitness assessment.
• Must be between 18 and 29 years old.
• Must reside in Sasol local communities, specifically Secunda or Sasolburg.
