Eskom is inviting applications for the Learner – Plant Maintenance opportunity.

This 2-year learning programme is designed to give successful applicants structured technical training and practical workplace exposure in plant maintenance within the energy sector. Selected learners will be placed at various Eskom sites and will receive a stipend in line with company policies and procedures.

The programme is ideal for technically skilled candidates who want to build hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and maintenance-related environments. Successful applicants will support plant maintenance activities while developing their knowledge of technical drawings, measuring equipment, quality systems, and engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Eskom’s 2-year plant maintenance learning programme.
• Assist with plant maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation environments.
• Use measuring equipment relevant to maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret component drawings and tolerances.
• Work according to technical drawings, specifications, and unit conversions.
• Maintain a high standard of quality in all tasks performed.
• Support adherence to quality systems, codes, and engineering standards.
• Use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
• Contribute to technical and maintenance-related operations at assigned sites.

Requirements

• S4 qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics (C&I).
• Electrical (Power Plant) option will be an added advantage.
• No prior work experience is required.
• Must be willing to sign a 2-year learning programme contract.
• Must be able to work at various Eskom sites in South Africa.
