The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for the position of Data Capturer within the Health Information Directorate at the Ekurhuleni Health District.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, capturing, verifying, analysing, and reporting health information data from different stakeholders, programmes, private providers, sub-districts, and facilities.

This role requires a detail-oriented and computer-literate individual with experience in public health sector data capturing, knowledge of DHMIS policy, and the ability to work accurately with data and figures. The position also requires strong reporting, planning, organisational, analytical, and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and receive data from different stakeholders, programmes, and private providers at district level.
• Capture, verify, collate, and analyse health information data.
• Provide feedback to sub-districts and facilities regarding data quality and data-related issues.
• Create district data reports.
• Ensure the effective and efficient flow of data and information.
• Ensure timely reporting according to required deadlines.
• Attend training sessions and meetings to address data challenges.
• Provide feedback to sub-districts and health facilities.
• Assist with Health Information Management training.
• Work accurately with data, figures, reports, and records.
• Function as part of the District Health Information Management committee.
• Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Grade 12.
• Six months’ experience in data capturing within the public health sector.
• A post-matric qualification will be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy is essential.
• Competency in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of DHMIS policy.
• DHIS certificate is compulsory.
• Valid driver’s licence is essential.
