Job Description

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for Cleaner Level 2 positions at Carletonville Hospital.

There are 3 posts available under the Logistics Directorate.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates with ABET Level 3, Grade 9 or an equivalent qualification who are able to read and write and are prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

The successful candidates will help maintain a clean, safe and hygienic hospital environment while supporting infection control and occupational health and safety standards.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• ABET Level 3, minimum Grade 9 or equivalent qualification.
• Authentic school report, where applicable.
• Ability to read and write.
• Must be prepared to work shifts.
• Must be prepared to work weekends.
• Must be prepared to work public holidays.
• Must be willing to rotate in different wards or units.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of infection control.
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Added Advantage

The following will be an added advantage:

• Exposure to the public health sector or hospital environment.
• Cleaning experience.

Duties

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Mopping and scrubbing floors using cleaning machinery.
• Washing windows and walls according to the work schedule.
• Performing high dusting.
• Dusting tables.
• Damp dusting surfaces.
• Wiping door handles.
• Reporting faulty equipment.
• Cleaning and replenishing bathrooms.
• Cleaning foot stools, bedside lockers and drip stands.
• Emptying dirt bins.
• Wiping spillages on the floor.
• Collecting food trolleys from the main kitchen.
• Serving beverages.
• Ensuring a clean and hygienic hospital environment.
• Performing any other duties delegated by the supervisor.
